Bil-Jac (Select Dog Food)

If there was ever a dog food with this many by-products then I have not head of it as yet. The very first 4 places based on weight for this dog food are by products. Yes it is labelled as organs but lets face it the amino acids and protein sources are not good and the meal will overall not be very good.

Personally I don’t like this dog food as outside of the fact that everything in it is a by-product it also contains Molasses which I have never liked in dog food. Dental problems have always been an issue from my view point when it comes to Molasses. The grain being used in this product is also corn. Based on weight the Molasses and salt content is to high up the scale on their list. Personally I would skip this product. I am certain that it is much cheaper than other products such as AvoDerm (Chicken Meal & Brown Rice) but this one I personally would give a miss.

Good Points:

Well there is an upside in that at least it makes use of an animal protein although not a good source followed by a better source next. The use of Molasses aka sugar is not good as it has proven to keep dogs addicted to the sweet source as listed here. Teeth problems would be my next worry. Not a good overall product but not as bad as others.
