Eukanuba (Lamb & Rice)

Eukanuba is a well known product and one which you would normally but at your corner store. The supermarkets stock most fo the bottom end dog food and if you really have to buy at a supermarket then Eukanuba is more likely than not the top of the line for those type of products.

For what you get the price is rather steep and if you have access to buying online from a proper per store then you should be able to buy a better quality product for the same amount of money. Let me give you an example. the Blue Wilderness dog food is a Category 1 dog food and high end in its ingredients yet its costs the same as the Eukanuba range of products which is full of grains.  If you can afford this then Blue Wilderness is a much better buy at the same price.

Lamb is the first ingredient and that’s a good sign. Lamb meal would have been better as it is concentrated without all the water before it makes it to the dog food. See the article on dog food advertising on this website here.

Brewers yeast and corn meal is simply not good enough for the sort of money being charged for this product. They say no fillers are used but it is common practice to use brewers yeast and corn meal as a filler. They are simply not good additions in the quantity they have in this food.

The dog food does come with fish and also check meal but this makes up a very small amount of the overall package. one would have thought that for the price tag these would be in great quantities and hence further up the list.

The is also some egg added with barley instead of the usual corn as a grain.

Good Points:

Lamb is the main ingredient but this is not lamb meal which is much better as it is concentrated. Brewers yeast is the second ingredient and this could have been improved. Overall the product is satisfactory however the price puts it into a category where it does not belong.
