Iams (Original with Tuna)

Even with recalls Iams is still one of the best brand names in the petfood market. They offer a number of products but this is one of the very basic cat food products which they offer being the Iams Original with Tuna. Note that this is by no means cheap and is one of the more expensive cat foods on the market. So how does it match up.

The product starts of with chicken by-product which is not very good compared to say chicken meal or whole chicken. Considering the price of this product it already looks bad in terms of value for money. They next two biggest ingredients by weight is corn and more corn. There is no benefit to the cat with corn and this is nothing more than a filler.

They have tune in the cat food at #5 which is far down the list in terms of weight and even though a good source of animal protein there is simply not enough of it in the cat food compared to how much corn they have stuffed into it.

It is strange when you see it says ‘with tuna’ when chicken by-products is the main ingredient and that tuna is far down the list after all the corn filler. Beat-pulp as a fiber source and some brewers yeast which simply adds no value to the product.

What’s good about this food.

It is an average catfood that is simply overpriced. For this sorts of money that is being charged you could be buying a real high-end product such as Fromm’s Surf and Turf.
